Design trends 2025
As we start 2025 with a mix of old and new, unchanged and changed, happy and sad we will see a lot of those elements reflected in our design choices. Our changing world changes our design moods and choices each year. Here are the top trends we see evolving and making their way in 2025.
Revisiting Color
Color is a straight on trend each year as we discover our changing hues, likes and colors we are over.
In 2025 we will continue to not just live with neutral and bland but embrace color whether it be a green wall, wallpaper, a fun piece of furniture or more. The Pantone color of the year Mocha Muse whether loved by all or not (as is the case each year) will be seen embodying the warmth and richness we crave. Yes, all white sterile looking rooms may no longer be in sync with 2025. We will definitely see warmth, color and hues blending in seamlessly.
2. Earthy Connections
Our connection to earth and nature will stay strong as we revisit various wood, paulownia, mango, bamboo and bring in the earthiness to our homes. We will continue to embrace natural earth grown material such as recycled finds,
3. Scallops and Curves
Softness blending in will reign in 2025 as we embrace designs in furnishings which have soft curves and bends. Ideas for these can span different areas such as some of which we mentioned here.
4. Past Connections
Our experiences will continue to shape our homes. A piece of travel, a memory of a parent and more will hold meaning as we encapture elements of these into our homes.
We revisited some homes which encapsulated these such as the Mid Century Modern in La Jolla, this Spanish Craftsman remodel and this gorgeous 1940’s revival among others.
5. Let me be. Stand Out and Blend In
As we see Gen Z leading the home ownership with first time homes their design style and independence will reflect in their deisgn choices. By being both non confirming and blending in. In 2023, the homeownership rate for adult Gen Zers, or those between 19 and 26 years old, was higher than the homeownership rate for millennials and Gen X when they were 24, according to Redfin.
The blend in and stand out connection means that we will continue to combine different textures, materials and colors and while they will stand out they will also perfectly seem they make sense together. Think different wood grain in a kitchen, flooring and tile mixes, wallpaper and neutral paint yet curated to create a divine aesthetic we adore.
