Spanish Modern Coastal Masterpiece in the Heart of Pacific Beach

Being in the Southern California real estate market, we see a lot of coastal-inspired homes, but Dawes Avenue was truly a unique project for a couple of reasons. First, it was a labor of love, even as an investment project. The owner Tina was meticulous in choosing every detail and finish to transform this home into something that felt both cozy and luxurious. Second was the style. It was a perfect blend of high-end luxury finishes but with a relaxed San Diego surfer aesthetic. Walking in the door somehow made you marvel and feel right at home immediately.

Starting in the family room, you walk into a beautiful open space with arched built-ins (remember we have this on our 2023 Design Trends!), an electric fireplace, and an open floor plan that leads you into a comfortable dining area. It was made for family living. We staged the space with this coastal comfort in mind, a plush cloud couch, neutral textured pillows, and lots of wood and stone pieces to keep an organic feel to the space.

The kitchen is a true masterpiece, and not a single detail was left out. From the beautiful oak cabinets and the exposed beams, making the space feel organic, to the textured stone backslash, create a light and easy balance to the space. We especially loved the oversized window that opens to the side deck, creating a uniquely modern indoor-outdoor feel. Pieces for the kitchen were chosen to compliment the finishes and materials with a few pops of black to bring contrast to the space.

When you step into any of the outdoor spaces, both side and backyard, we wanted buyers to feel like they were at a resort. Patio furniture was thoughtfully curated to feel modern and elevated while still being minimal. One of our favorite features of the home was the outdoor shower, perfect for rinsing off after a morning surf.

The master bedroom and bathroom felt like a true escape; with arched accents and lots of natural light, we wanted the future homeowner to feel like their bedroom was their retreat. The sitting area with an electric fireplace was designed to be perfect for your morning coffee and a good book. The bedroom we kept minimal to maintain that relaxed feeling you get from a tidy home. And the bathroom we envisioned as the at-home spa. With its oversized soaking tub and waterfall shower, it just needed little home touches and some oversized towels to tie it all together.
