Staging Tip: How to Take Advantage of High Ceilings

High ceilings are a huge selling point for so many homes. They can bring in so much natural light and make a home feel expansive even if the footprint is smaller. When it comes to staging a home with tall ceilings though you have to be mindful to fill the space in just the right way! Here are our tips:

Choose minimal but statement artwork

Your eyes have a lot to see when a home has tall ceilings, so artwork should add to the space without making it feel too busy. We love using simple geometric canvas art to bring balance and fill a big space.

Place your artwork vertically

Hanging art vertically naturally draws the eye upward, making sure to highlight the height of a room. It creates a longer line on the wall as opposed to a horizontal line that can make the wall feel like it is broken into chunks.

Hang artwork at different levels

Depending on the space, you should be strategic in where you place your art. For example, in this home, the artwork leaned just on top of the console because of where the light fixture hung in the room. You should focus on the path the eye will take when looking at art and if it feels natural with other elements in the home.

Compliment the existing architecture

When choosing artwork and placement, you always want to keep in mind your starting point, the home itself. These wood beams, for example, draw your eye to the center of the fireplace, so adding artwork here is key because it is the focal point of the room.
