Trend Alert: Rattan

One of the summer’s hottest trends has arrived and I am seeing it EVERYWHERE! Rattan furniture, decor, even lighting has made a huge comeback this season and in a coastal community, it is definitely here to stay.

BlueGrape Staging is known for always stocking the most current trends and rattan has been no exception in our homes this year. Looking to incorporate this natural look into your home? Here are a few ideas on how!

Bring an outdoor bench indoor

Wicker, rattan, and similar materials were traditional used in outdoor furniture because of their durability to the elements so you may already have these pieces sitting on your patio. Give them a good dusting and bring them indoors, perhaps in the entryway for a casual seat for guests upon welcome.

Upgrade your bar

Another easy piece of furniture to switch out in your home is barstools! Maybe you have velvet or leather ones currently, trade them during the spring and summer for some lighter weave ones and come fall and winter you can always change them out again! Not all your decor needs to change seasonally but this is an easy one to mix and match.

Hang it up

A rattan mirror can add a nice contrast to framed art and help a small space feel larger. It is also a great starter piece when incorporating the material into your home because it can stand alone or mix well when other rattan elements are added such as a dining bench or planters.

These natural elements look clean and fun on a neutral wall, check out our previous post on the Top 5 Paint Colors To Help Sell Your House for some inspiration!

Add an accent chair

Accent chairs are the perfect addition to a room and can easily blend in with the rest of your furniture. Pick out something fun for a family room or something more traditional for a formal living room. They also work perfectly in a nursery or childs bedroom and are super durable!

Whether it is a small element or a larger furniture piece, rattan can make quite the statement in your home and give it that beachy aesthetic that we all crave here in California.
